Hello,
We are Clinical Psychologists who are running a pilot project offering an outreach therapy service for NHS Grampian staff who work in highly stressful and unpredictable settings. Initially we are focusing on offering this opportunity to staff who work in acute adult mental health inpatient settings. You may have been given the link to this information through a colleague or line manager, who may have wondered if you would want to take part.
If you are interested in hearing more about our pilot project, please send your best contact email and phone number to janet.kennedy2@nhs.scot.
Janet will then make contact with you to offer a brief conversation by telephone, during which our project will be more fully explained to you and you will have the opportunity to ask any questions. You will then be offered a brief screening assessment, as part of the call. Following this if psychological therapy is mutually agreed as a potentially helpful option for you, Janet will arrange for you to have an initial meeting with an experienced psychologist to start the therapy process. Please be aware that there may be a short wait for this.
The psychological therapy sessions will typically last up to 50 minutes. All treatment sessions offered will be based on a Cognitive Therapy model, which is a directive and goal-based therapy. The number of sessions provided will be based on your individual treatment plan, but will not exceed 20. If at any time the structured psychological therapy we are offering is not considered the best option for you, we will discuss with you other avenues that you may wish to pursue (for example, counselling services if appropriate).
All of the sessions available to you will take place through Near Me video-conferencing. The notes from your sessions will be documented in the secure Occupational Health electronic data system. These will not be accessed by individuals in the wider Occupational Health team without your consent. No information about your involvement will be passed to your line-manager or senior colleagues without you requesting this. You will also have the option for your psychologist to send a letter to your GP about your therapy, if you wanted this.
Please get in touch with Janet to arrange a confidential conversation where we can tell you more and help you consider this opportunity. We look forward to hearing from you.
